Thanks for the pattern! It was easy to understand and follow.

I used them to make booties for my nephew and they came out great, they are currently on the way to grace his feet, if you want to check the finished product:

Sorry to take so long to respond, I used worsted weight yarn. Though really...you can use whatever yarn and gauge makes you happy. I've also done a pair in sport weight cotton. The materials suggested will provide you with booties for a 6-12 month old. If you want teeny newborn booties, do sport weight with needles sizes 2US/2.75mm and 3US/3.25mm.

I think I did 'slip one, knit one, pass slipped stitch over' for it and it turned out okay :)

I made my first bootie without swatching just to see how it all came together. Now I'm doing my first "for real" one and I'm stumped. I've just done row 11 (k across using CC) and 12 (purl across using CC). Row 13 is k across using MC. That's easy enough but the next row is purl across using CC. My working strand of CC is at the other end of the needle. On the test bootie I cut the cc strand leaving enough to weave in later and reattached it at the other end. However, since the next 3 rows are p cc,k cc, p cc it would make a difference which end I really should be starting from. It calls for straight needles specifically, otherwise I'd think you would just slide the work to the other end and pick up from there. Or should I have attached the MC at the other end (although that would be at the wrong end of the straight needle, i. e. the end with the stopper, not the point. I have my first Sunday off in six weeks tomorrow (today) and had planned on finishing at least one if I could just get past this hurdle. Thanks in advance (again!)

Is the entire pattern done in short rows? That's what I don't understand. I started it last night, and I have this super long piece to begin with. (I am right at row 11 of the beginning). I was also perplexed that this pattern doesn't use DPNs at all? I feel like a complete numbskull for asking these questions...
